We celebrate 50 years of activity:
The physics we love with Vincenzo Schettini

“The physics we like”: Vincenzo Schettini at the Petrarca Theatre for our fiftieth anniversary
The web’s most famous and best-loved professor will make a stop in the city on Wednesday 9 October with a show that will transform the stage into a large school classroom where, with captivating kindness and scientific skills, he will accompany young spectators on an exhilarating journey between experiments in physics and the laws of nature. This event, which is scheduled for 10:00 am, is included in the lineup of our fiftieth anniversary celebrations, among the initiatives aimed at schoolchildren to enthuse them and heighten their awareness of issues such as science, technology, sustainability and the circular economy.
Schettini’s show will be reserved for the winning students of the “Metals for tomorrow” competition organised by the “Martiri di Civitella” Comprehensive Institute together with Chimet itself, the students of the “Francesco Redi” Scientific High School and the students of the “Galileo Galilei” State Technical College. The star of the morning’s events will be the professor and content creator Schettini who, since 2015, has been engaged in a creative and enthusiastic popularisation of physics on YouTube and who in 2022 published his first book “La fisica che ci piace” (“The physics we like”), in which he describes how physics is present in every daily phenomenon. This subject is explained in a lively, fun, colourful and effective way to make each concept easy and understandable, and the work that has found further expression in the show of the same name, which he has presented in the foremost Italian theatres. The last stage of this educational journey was television, with Schettini presenting the programme “La fisica dell’amore” (“The physics of love”) on Rai2, in which the certainties of physics concepts such as force, energy and speed were put in contact with the complex reality of feelings, emotions and the uncertainties that are scattered through our lives.
All this will now be staged at the Petrarca theatre in a dual event: on Wednesday 9 October, in fact, “The physics we like” will first be presented to the schools, while at 9:00 pm an extraordinary replica is scheduled for our internal and external collaborators and the group. Our wish, as a world company of reference in the recovery and refining of precious metals, is to offer an exclusive experience to involve and thank our staff, demonstrating a further sign of gratitude for their contribution to the growth and development of the activities. “The fiftieth anniversary,” comments Luca Benvenuti, CEO of Chimet, “ has led us to propose initiatives for the whole of 2024 where we have explored values such as science, sustainability, ethics and environmental responsibility, with a particular view towards the young generations that represent our future. This final show starring an exceptional figure who is capable of speaking to an audience of all ages is, therefore, the best finale for this exciting journey paved with celebrations”.
